The existing building was a classic concrete block building from the 1970s that lacked amenity and limited the programs Yarrra Youth Services (YSS) could run.
We were asked to masterplan the redevelopment of the centre to maximise the site’s potential, achieve current building standards, and meet the future needs of the youth of Yarra.
We designed spaces to accommodate the diverse and ambitious programs run by YSS e.g., studio space for art program, a workshops for carpentry and mechanic courses, commercial kitchen for café and cooking programs, a recording studio for the music program. We created a street presence for the centre through a new entry and façade forecourt . We also upgraded staff amenities. Stage 1 and 2 are completed, Stage 3 works are awaiting funding.
