The project for the Knox City Council was part of a strategy to improve the amenity and character of a 70’s shopping precinct. The design uses a rotated and embedded concrete block to create to create a sculptural object that addresses all sides of the shopping precinct. A 40,000lt sub ground matrix tank collects run off from a supermarket roof, while photovoltaic solar panels integrated into the awning provide sufficient water and power to run the automated toilets. Uplighting onto the pictograms creates a night presence.
